Two mini forums have been scheduled in the month of February for pastors and church leaders to converse about topics that have a direct interest in their congregations. The first mini forum, titled "Adopt A School" will be held on Monday, February 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Qdoba on East 10th Street. The second mini forum is on "Partnering with Immigrant and Refugee Congregations" and will be held on Thursday, February 23, at noon at King of Glory Church.
As was discussed at the last Empower Sioux Falls Forum, we would like to create more opportunities for congregations to collaborate on an area of concern. One way we are striving to make these collaborative opportunities known is through 'mini forums'. These will be casual small group conversations between congregational leaders who either already have a ministry in the specific area ... or congregational leaders who are interested in learning more so they can begin a ministry in that area.
Adopt A School: February 13, 11:30 a.m. at Qdoba (2400 E. 10th Street)
Come and join Pastor Doug Bartel and Pastor Brian Stroh of Hillcrest Church for a casual conversation about how churches can adopt a school. They will share what things Hillcrest has done in its partnership with Cleveland Elementary School and how other congregations can begin similar partnerships with other schools.
While everyone is responsible for their own lunch, please RSVP by Friday, February 10 in order to insure enough seating capacity.
Immigrant and Refugee Congregations: February 23, Noon at King of Glory Church (1001 E. 17th Street)
Come and join Pastor Rich Merkouris of King of Glory Church for a casual conversation about congregations partnering with immigrant and refugee congregations. Pastor Rich will give an overview of King of Glory's relationship with International Outreach Ministries, a local Liberian congregation.
A lite lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by, Tuesday, February 21.
